New Years, 2011 GMT

The family celebrated New Years in our annual New Years, GMT fashion. To my mind its only really the New Year when it is midnight on the first day of the year at the prime meridian at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Every other time is only relative to that time, and while just as arbitrary, those other times have less claim to fame if only by convention. Our fare this year included scotch eggs (which were fantastic!), Sheppard's pie, asparagus, and lots of home made brown sugar stout. The girls toasted with root beer (their favorite bubbly), and we streamed the fireworks over London on ustream (CBS). Our friends are enjoying a night together not too far away but I've made it a point to not be on the roads on New Years eve for many years now. I miss them all and hope to see everyone soon!
