What is an American Car?
I don’t have very much commentary on
this story, except to say that I think it’s funny that by one measure, the Ford Mustang is composed of only 65% American components, while the Toyota Sienna boasts 90% American components. The argument is complicated:
If one of the big three US auto makers supports 140,000 US workers while the car is made in Mexico or Canada with foreign parts, and Toyota supports only 5,000 US workers using domestic parts - which is more American? It may not matter very much soon when we can no longer afford gas to drive them. Personally, I like the
new Toyota FJ1.
