Dog sized mammal hunted small dinosaurs

Science

After years of speculation that mammals remained small because they were being hunted by dinosaurs, it appears that tables have turned! A dog-sized mammal, known as Repenomamus apparently chewed it’s food much like a crocodile (in large chunks rather than chewing it like modern mammals). Researchers found two specimens in volcanic tuff in China, one with the crushed remains of a recently swallowed smallish dinosaur in the area that would have been it’s stomach! This find will undoubtedly be forcing a lot of folks to rewrite their textbooks. Until recently, most scientists have held that there were no mammals larger than about the size of a shrew alive at the time of the dinosaurs.
